The Gift of Today

Enjoy the gift of today. We’re stuck in the push and pull of tomorrow’s and yesterday’s. We are stuck in the what we’ve done or haven’t done to be in our current predicament, and what we need to do to get to where we want to be. But we’re missing the very premise of the beauty of the gift sitting right in front of us – today.

The gift of today is the most precious treat we have.

Yesterday is over and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, yet we spend our energy focused on one or the other, missing the opportunity of what’s at our door at this very moment. Is it a missed conversation? A missed moment of contact? A missed blessing? A missed answer? A missed peace moment? A missed rest? A missed God wink?

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

So much comparison. The trap of “wishing” for more and never being content with what you have. You can’t get so hung up on where you’d rather be that you forget where you are. Open your eyes to right now – this minute! How can this second be enhanced and lived to its fullest potential?

I’m all for dreaming and hoping – it’s the very premise of so many prayers and my joy in helping women transition from the dream to the reality, but if we aren’t thanking and praising as well, we aren’t loving our Father the way that we should. He is ever-present. Right this second, then AND when!

If our kids only ever said “I want I want I want,” “I hope I hope I hope,” or “I need I need I need” we’d get frustrated as parents. We know that we’ve already provided so much for their joy today that they don’t NEED anything more for tomorrow. But our Father keeps giving, keeps showing up each millisecond in hopes of connecting with us right now even while He simultaneously wants us to crave abundance! He wants our focus on the overflow of now just as much as the desires of tomorrow.

What is one thing you could do right now to be present in this day verses reflecting on the past or prepping for the future?

Psalm 16:11
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
