In a world where the hustle and bustle of daily life often leaves us feeling disconnected from our faith, the concept of discipleship emerges as a beacon of hope and transformation. Recently, on The Messenger Movement Podcast, host Tamra Andress had an enlightening conversation with Christian filmmaker, producer, and actor Cameron Arnett. Their discussion revolved around Cameron’s journey in the entertainment industry, his mission to use media and storytelling to influence and disciple people for Christ, and the profound importance of discipleship in today’s world.
Discipleship is much more than a religious term; it’s a way of life for Christians who seek to be conformed to the image and likeness of Christ. It involves a continuous process of learning, growing, and transforming one’s character and actions to reflect Jesus. Cameron Arnett emphasized this during his conversation, highlighting that the earth is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God, and it is through discipleship that we shape people to be like Jesus.
Cameron Arnett’s journey from the secular entertainment industry to the Christian realm underscores the significant role that media and storytelling can play in discipleship. He believes that Christians should infiltrate spaces like Hollywood to bring the essence of Christ through arts, entertainment, and media. By doing so, we can program people with the atmosphere of God and counteract the pervasive demonic oppression in the industry.
To be effective disciples, Christians must strive to live as Christ-like individuals. This involves cultivating self-control, aligning with the Holy Spirit, and allowing Him to govern our lives. Cameron shared that his upcoming movie, The Forge, centers around the theme of discipleship and becoming Christ-like. It’s a call to all believers to let God shape and mold them into His likeness.
One of the significant challenges facing the church today is disunity. Cameron Arnett addressed this issue, arguing that there should be unity among Christians, regardless of denominational differences. He urged believers to dismantle false doctrines and wrong teachings that divide the church and to focus on being Christ-like in character and conduct. True discipleship fosters unity, as it brings believers together under the common goal of following Christ.Living with the Mindset of Jesus’ ReturnCameron emphasized the importance of living with the mindset that Jesus is coming back. This mindset should influence how we treat one another—with love, unity, and care—knowing that we will be accountable to God for our actions. Discipleship is not just about personal growth; it’s also about preparing ourselves and others for Christ’s return.
Discipleship is an essential aspect of the Christian faith, shaping individuals to reflect Christ’s image in their daily lives. As Cameron Arnett’s journey and insights reveal, media and storytelling can be powerful tools for discipleship, bringing the essence of Christ into various spheres of influence. By cultivating self-control, seeking transformation, striving for unity, and living with the expectation of Jesus’ return, we can become effective disciples and lead others to do the same. Join the movement and embrace the call to discipleship, shaping lives for Christ in today’s world.
