Avoid The Robot

I found out the scarf I’m wearing is actually purposed for a towel the last time I tagged it on insta! I almost spit out my coffee…and took it off. Key word, almost! Cue Brandy’s classic song “almost doesn’t count!” (I’m aging myself here – because I know some of you have no clue what I’m talking about – look it up, you won’t be sorry!)
Anyway, what if we swayed our action, emotion, and perspective every time someone told us to look or do or speak a certain way? We’d easily all become robots! If you take a deeper look, in some areas of our lives we may identify robotic ways, but at some point, you take the robot dance and you give it your own flare – that’s when you WOW the audience and more importantly, that’s when you feel most FREE!

An area where this was evident for me was in my Christian walk. My faith had become a cookie cutter example of the American church. I was perceived in one light, while my home life didn’t mimic what God really wanted from me. And eventually, my routines and realities of what it meant to be Christian had faded to a far off concept verse a practiced flow.
God doesn’t want our relationship together to look like every one else’s. He just wants you to show up and give Him the opportunity to show you the inner flare He’s already instilled within! He wants to see you move and flow with grace verse step by step expectations burden by the church or anyone else. In fact church isn’t even where He needs you to be to use you!
When I finally put down the facade of being christian (notice the little c – because in fact that’s exactly what I was), the scales were removed from my eyes and I was able to truly walk out and comprehend Christianity. 3 years ago my unique journey began and I can never go back to “that’s just a towel” mindset. Mind you, He’s a big big God, one who I have not even begun to fully wrap my arms around, but I know He’d want me to see this mere towel as a scarf, a blanket, a shaw, a bandage, or any other thing I could muster up. And if you know me well by now, you’ll know I’m likely busting a dance move that hasn’t been named yet…
Come on y’all! Jesus wasn’t boring! He wasn’t a robot! He thought and did and believed out of the box – and guess what – it changed history! We have the same ability…so get up, turn your shirt upside down and show me your dance moves!
And if you’re looking for a way to do that today, get your free e-book to un-do some robotic expectations before you end up un-done like I was.
1 Corinthians 14:26
What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.
