In the quiet moments of reflection, as we traverse through the tapestry of our lives, the essence of our actions and decisions often finds its roots in intention. Intention, the silent force that shapes our pursuits, the compass guiding our paths. Today, let’s embark on a journey through the lens of intention, exploring its depths in the context of faith and righteousness.
This contemplative exploration was inspired by a morning spent immersed in the sacred verses of Genesis, particularly chapters 12 through 15. As I delved into the rich narratives of Abram’s journey, a revelation about intentions unfolded, prompting me to share this transformative insight.
Abram, later known as Abraham, faced a profound challenge – the alignment of his intentions with divine will. In the realm of social media, live broadcasts, and community building, intentions play a pivotal role. The shift from asking, “What do I want to share?” to “What does God want to share?” can reshape our impact. It’s a subtle transformation from self-focused intentions to God-centric purpose.
Consider Abraham’s journey, not as a mere historical account, but as a parable for our own lives. The unfollow me campaign, as I term it, draws attention to a fundamental truth – metrics and worldly validations hold little weight in the realm of divine intentions. Abraham couldn’t measure God’s promise by conventional standards, much like we can’t quantify the spiritual richness that intentions rooted in faith bring.
As we navigate through Genesis 12 to 15, we witness Abraham’s wrestling with understanding God’s plan. The promise of descendants more numerous than the stars tested his understanding. In his questioning, we discern a crucial aspect – faith preceding intention. His intentions were entwined with righteousness, reflecting the divine connection between faith, intention, and God’s nature.
Pause for a moment, and let’s collectively delve into the depth of our intentions. A heartfelt prayer echoes Abraham’s yearning to align intentions with the divine, seeking not just a move of God but a touch from Him. Imagine walking with God, communing with Him, and seeking His guidance – a profound desire mirrored in Abraham’s journey.
Abram’s strategic positioning of Sarai as his sister in Egypt, though rooted in a lie, unveils a peculiar facet of divine orchestration. How can a lie lead to blessings? The intention, while flawed, was overshadowed by God’s righteousness. This raises intriguing questions about the interplay of intention and divine providence in our own lives.
Fast forward to the parting of ways between Abram and Lot. Here, intention takes center stage. The purest intention emerges when Abram, driven by familial love, allows Lot to choose the land. A profound lesson surfaces – our intentions, whether in family dynamics or broader relationships, must transcend selfish desires. Abram’s desire for peace and fairness demonstrates a selfless approach to intentions.
The narrative unfolds with Abram rescuing Lot from captivity, a reflection of God’s righteousness in action. The encounter with Melchizedek, a priest and king, becomes a testament to the intertwining of faith and intention. Abram’s refusal to accept anything from Melchizedek showcases a profound trust in God’s provision. It raises a thought-provoking question about our own intentions in matters of giving and receiving.
Finally, we encounter the divine covenant, sealed with holy fire. God’s intention to fulfill His promises transcends human understanding. Abram’s deep sleep during the covenant ceremony symbolizes a surrender of human effort and a profound trust in God’s ability to fulfill His plans.
As we reflect on this journey through the lens of intention, several implications surface:
As we navigate the intricacies of our lives, let’s pause and reflect on the intentions shaping our actions. Let’s embark on a journey of intentional living, anchored in faith, and directed by divine wisdom. The stories of Genesis aren’t merely historical accounts but mirrors reflecting the timeless truths that shape our destinies.
May our intentions echo the prayer that opened this exploration – a yearning for God’s touch, a desire to align with His will, and a commitment to walk in righteousness.
